About the IPR Cell
The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell at St. Francis College, established under the
Institution Innovation Council (IIC) initiative of the Ministry of Education, is committed to
promoting a culture of innovation, creativity, and intellectual property protection among
students, faculty, and researchers.
The IPR Cell provides support for identifying, protecting, and commercializing intellectual
property assets including patents, copyrights, trademarks, industrial designs, and more.

To cultivate an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship by safeguarding intellectual
contributions and fostering original research.
Mission
• Promote awareness and understanding of Intellectual Property Rights.
• Support innovators in filing and protecting their intellectual property.
• Encourage the commercialization of research and innovations.
• Build strong industry-academia collaborations through protected innovations.
Objectives
• Nurture an intellectual and innovative environment within the institution.
• Promote indigenous technology development for societal advancement.
• Facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations for product development and startups.
• Enhance educational methods and foster entrepreneurial skills among students.
• Encourage participation in national initiatives such as Hackathons, YUKTI 2.0, and the
National Innovation Contest.
Key Activities
• Conduct workshops, seminars, and awareness programs on IPR.
• Assist in the drafting, filing, and prosecution of IP applications.
• Provide guidance on IP management, licensing, and commercialization.
• Build capacity among students and faculty to transform ideas into protected innovations.
Conflict of Interest & Dispute Resolution
Inventors must disclose any conflicts of interest related to ownership or commercialization of IP.
Any disputes concerning IPR ownership or policy implementation will be resolved internally
through an arbitration mechanism established by the institution, with decisions made by the head
of the college being final and binding.
Funding Support
The college facilitates funding assistance for patent filing and examination under schemes like
AICTE’s reimbursement initiatives, making innovation protection more accessible to all
members of the academic community.
