The St. Francis College Library started in 2019 and housed on the ground floor of the St.
Francis College. The library covering an area of 247.14 square meter (2,720 sq. ft) providing
different section like Stock Section, Circulation Section, and E-Library. Separate Reference
section and reading rooms including periodical section established in front of the library with
150 seating capacity with good furniture. The library has sufficient windows, modernized
focus lights and fans.

To be a hub of knowledge providing organized, completely and timely access to both local and remote resources.
Mission
To employ new developments in Technology to expose the ever-expanding frontiers of knowledge to staff and students.
Objectives of the Library:
1. To develop the collection of the library by acquiring books and Periodicals in print
as well as in digital format.
2. To encourage reading habits among students and faculties
3. To support the improvement of library and information services.
4. To develop the habit of self-learning and lifelong learning
Library Automation:
St. Francis College library is fully automated with Integrated Library Management
System (ILMS) supported by “Easylib software 6.2a- Web Version”, since August 2019.
The same software upgraded to “Easylib Software 6.4a Cloud Version” since July 2024.
The library functions are Acquisition, Member Registration, Circulation, Cataloguing, Stock
verification, WebOPAC, Overdue list, Fine statement and, etc.
Biometric Technology:
Biometric technology system is installed for library foot falls and for books circulation
with Easylib and 2CQR library automation software’s. Users have to biometric at the time
of entry into the library and exit from the library.

RFID Technology:
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Technology implemented for library security
purpose since December 2022. All the books are pasted RFID Tags and also bar-code sticker.

Databases:
1. N-List (Inflibnet): Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) is an
autonomous Inter-University Centre of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Which provides access to more than 6000+ E-journals and 800000+ E-books from 22
publishers’.
2. DELNET: DELNET collections covered E-books, E-journals, Thesis/Dissertations,
Newspapers, Manuscripts, Rare Books, Archives materials, and other online
databases.
3. National Digital Library of India (NDLI): National Digital Library of India Club is
a project sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. In this club all the
membership institutions conduct both physical and virtual events through the NDLI
club and uploaded to this.
4. E-ShodSindhu: Ministry of Education has formed e-ShodhSindhu with merging
three consortia, namely UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, NLIST, and
INDEST-AICTE Consortium. The e-Shodh Sindhu will continue to provide current as
well as archival access to more than 10,000 core peer-reviewed journals,
bibliographic citations and factual databases in different disciplines from a large
number of publishers.
5. Shodganga: Shodhganga is a digital repository of Indian E-theses and dissertations. It
is hosted by the INFLIBNET Centre.

E-Library established inside the library hall with 27 computers, including a high-
speed internet connection and Head Phone facilities (If required will provide). Users can
access e-resources like e-journals and e-books through E-databases which are subscribed by
the institution.

The principal of the Institution is the Chairman of the Committee. The Chief Librarian
is the Member-Secretary of the Committee. HODs /faculty members of various disciplines
and four students (Two from undergraduate and two from Postgraduate) representative are
members of the library committee. The meeting will be conducted two times in an academic
year.

Activities
Student Orientation Programme : Every year after the admission of the students we organize an orientation program for the new users of our college. In this program, we give them some information about our library collections and services and guide them how to use the library.
Book Exhibition : We conducted books exhibition on 11th February 2020 in library premises for benefit of the students.
Staff Orientation Programme: We also organized a staff orientation program for the teaching staff about the e-resources every year.
Rules and Regulations
Library Rules and Regulations
• Students are allowed to Library only on production of their authorized college ID
cards.
• No personal belongings (Bags, your own textbooks) are allowed inside the library.
You should keep it on the property counter at your own risk.
• Users should make Biometrics at the time of entry into the library and at the time
of exiting from the library (i.e. after using the library). This will be considered for
library attendance.
• Strict silence to be maintained and no group study/discussion allowed inside the
library/Reading Room. Library and Reading Rooms covered with CC Camera.
• Using mobile phones is strictly prohibited in the library premises.
• Two books will be issued to the students for two weeks, Renewals are allowed
only once (if that book is not in demand)
• Users should return borrowed books on or before the due date, if failed they have
to pay Rs 5/- per day per book as an overdue charge. The due date is mentioned
on the due date slip attached on the last page of the book.
• Books should be handled with care. Marking on the books, tearing pages etc. are most
objectionable and may lead to initiation of stringent disciplinary action on the member.
• Borrowed books are non-transferable, and a borrower shall remain responsible for the
until is returned the book.
• Reference books, journals and magazines, dissertations are not allowed to take outside
from the library.
• The librarian may recall any borrowed books from the library from the members at any
time and the members shall return the same immediately.
• Users should obey the library rules and regulations. Violation of rules and any act of
misbehaviour to the library staff will lead to strong disciplinary action.
• Users if lost the borrowed books, the member has to procure and return a new edition
copy of the same with overdue fines (if any overdue) or has to pay two times of the
cost of the book.
