:ST. FRANCIS COLLEGE :

The National Cadet Corps (NCC), the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces and the largest uniformed youth organisation in the world. NCC Day is observed on the fourth Sunday of November. The NCC was formed on 15th July 1948, However, the NCC day is observed throughout the country, on the fourth Sunday of November, because it was on that day in 1947 that the first units were raised in Delhi. NCC all over the country celebrated the 73rd anniversary of its raising on Sunday, November 28.

PREPARATION PART
Three NCC sub units of 1 KAR BN NCC, namely 6/2 COY, FSFS 1/3 COY & FSFS 1/2 Troop, parts of St. Francis Institutions, Koramangala, Bangalore, together celebrated 73rd raising day of National Cadet Corps (NCC) on 28th November 2021. The celebration program was planned well in advance and also included activities such as Drill, Salami, NCC Song & Social Activity (Plantation), which was instructed by the 1 KAR BN NCC Unit.

EVENT PART
The event started with the arrival of the Chief Guest Sri. M. V. Ramakrishna Prasad, Commandant, 3rd Battalion, KSRP, Bangalore, accompanied by the Pilates. The NCC flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest in the presence of all the other dignitaries. Contingent of 24 Army wing cadets and 10 Navy wing cadets of St. Francis institutions performed Drill followed by Salami in front of guests to show respect and to pass the message “Unity and Discipline”. Contingent was led by LCPL. Sujay K.M. Later, the guests were accompanied by the Pilates for the plantation program. Three saplings were transplanted in order to promote greenery. Our Chief Guest

Sri. M. V. Ramakrishna Prasad, who worked as lecturer for 8 years, also served in NCC as Associate NCC Officer (ANO) and presently serving in the State Police Department as Commandant, of 3rd battalion KSRP, Bangalore, addressed the gathering with his life events which were motivational. He also stressed on the importance of joining and being a part of NCC as a cadet. He mentioned the qualities of discipline, time management and other leadership qualities that would help them throughout their life. He also briefed about Student Police Cadet (SPC) Project, which was initiated by Kerala police, that trains high school students to evolve as future leaders of a democratic society by inculcating within them respect for law, discipline, civic sense, empathy towards vulnerable sections of the society and resistance to social evils.

We also conducted Medal and Certificate distribution ceremony for Navy cadets those who have attended Watermanship Training Camp held at Ulsoor Lake, Bangalore from 20th to 29th sep 2021. Later our beloved Director, Rev. Bro. Antony Vayalil, addressed the gathering with his inspirational message. He motivated cadets to adopt the lessons of NCC in their real life in order to grow as a responsible citizen of this country. Then NCC Oath was administered by CQMS Shwetha S. followed by all the cadets.

CONCLUSION PART
Total 110 NCC cadets from Army wing and Navy wing witnessed the program. The program concluded with NCC song and the National anthem by all the cadets. It was a smooth and successful event.
