Objectives : To create awareness of Kannada language and culture.
To make the students aware of the rich culture and literary heritage of Karnataka.
Programme Outcome :
1. To make the students aware of the rich cultural and literary heritage of Karnataka.
2. To make them responsible citizens of the country.
3. To engage with the literature produced by contemporary new generation writers.
4. To engage with the little known, less known streams of Kannada literature/culture.

Kannada Rajyotsava, also known as Karnataka Formation Day or Karnataka Day, is
celebrated on 1st November of every year. This was the day in 1956 when all the Kannada
language-speaking regions of southwestern India were merged to form the state of
Karnataka. ST. Francis College celebrated 67th Kannada Rajyotsava with great joy and
vigor on 10th November 2022. The celebrations started with flag hoisting by dignitaries
and the chief guest, the program was followed by invocation song by the students.
The chief guests of the event were Shri T S Nagabharana, Ex- President, Kannada
Development authority, Govt of Karnataka. He gave an insightful talk which explained the
rich heritage of proud state Karnataka. Shri Dr. Belakere Lingarajayya (President of
Kannada faculty association Bengaluru city university) & Dr. Malaligowda (Honorary
Secretary, Kannada Sahithya Parisath, Bengaluru) was the guest of honor, spoke about
different aspects of Kannada literature which highlights the immense contribution by
ancient & contemporary poets towards the growth of Kannada language. Our beloved
Deputy Director Rev. Bro. Peter and Dr. R.N Subba Rao Principal, St Francis college
distributed prizes to the students, who won various competitions held on Kannada
Rajyotsava.
The program was pursued by felicitation of the guests, prize distribution and various
cultural programs by the students. The program was concluded with vote of thanks and
National Anthem.
