Activity Name : AIDS awareness program
Conducted By : National Service Scheme (NSS)
Attended By : NSS Volunt eers & Volunteers
Date : 01/12/2021
On 1st December 2021,NSS Volunteers created pamphlets and placards to make awareness on AIDS prevention. A survey conducted which shows that AIDS has killed between 28.9 million and 41.5 million people worldwide, and an estimated 36.7 million people are living with HIV, making it one of the most important global public health issues in recorded history. Over 101,000 people are living with HIV in the UK. Globally, there are an estimated 36.7 million people who have the virus. Despite the virus only being identified in 1984, more than 35 million people have died of HIV or AIDS, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history. Today, scientific advances have been made in HIV treatment. There are laws to protect people living with HIV and we understand so much more about the plight. Despite this, each year in the India around 5,000 people are diagnosed with HIV. HIV infected patients without sufficient awareness about how to protect themselves and others, are not able to handle the social stigma and the social discrimination The Commemoration of the World AIDS Day is important because it reminds the public and government that HIV has not gone away – there is still a vital need to raise funds for AIDS prevention and treatment, increase awareness, fight prejudice and improve education .
