Guest lecture on “The Role of Language and Literature in Shaping Identity


The Department of English, St. Francis College, organized a guest lecture on “The Role of Language and Literature in Shaping Identity” on 23rd October 2025 at the 6th Floor Seminar Hall. The session featured Dr. Gautam C, Assistant Professor, Department of English, and JICM, as the resource person. The event was coordinated by Ms. Manjula Deshpande.

Verse voyage 4.0 (A poetry writing competition)


On October 24th, 2025, the Department of English, in collaboration with the Muses Club, successfully organized a verse voyage competition. The competition took place in First Floor Room No. 103 on the college campus from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

VERSE VOYAGE 3.0- A POETRY WRITING COMPETITION


On the 13th of May, 2025, the Department of English-MUSES club, St. Francis College, organized a poetry writing competition for all the UG students.  The name of the event was “Verse Voyage 3.0” and it is the third cycle of poetry competition held by the Muses club. The event coordinator was Ms. Annu Sara Jose and the event was held in room 103 from 2:30 pm onwards.

Sketch the Character


The Department of English at St. Francis College, Koramangala, affiliated with Bengaluru City University (BCU), successfully organized an engaging event titled “Sketch the Character – 2025” on 3rd April 2025. The event took place in Room No. 108 on the college campus from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM.

Adaptation Challenge


The English Department’s Muses Club hosted a unique event titled “Adaptation Challenge” on 28th March 2025 at 2:30pm in 4th Floor Seminar Hall. This writing-based competition invited students to creatively adapt existing movie plots—reworking them with unexpected twists, genre swaps, or alternate endings.

Achiever’s day


The Department of English, St. Francis College, hosted the Muses Club Achievers’ Day Celebration with great enthusiasm, honouring students for their academic, co-curricular, and leadership achievements. The event was meticulously planned to recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of the department’s young achievers.

CLASH OF MINDS The Voice of Individual – Debate Competition


The Department of English, in collaboration with IQAC, organized a debate competition titled “Clash of Minds” on March 10, 2026, in Room No. 102. The event featured 12 participants engaging in thought-provoking discussions and was judged by Ms. Soumya and Dr. Shwetha. Mohammed Bilal secured first place, followed by Pavithra and Sushmitha. The programme concluded successfully, promoting intellectual exchange and effective communication skills.

Essence of Expression – III Organised by: Department of English


The Essence of Expression Essay Competition was conducted on 4th March at St. Francis College in Room No. 113, with 50 students participating enthusiastically. The event provided a platform to showcase creativity and critical thinking, successfully promoting analytical writing and self-expression among students.

Crossword Competition (Muses Club)


The English Club, Muses, organized “Crosswordex” on 30/03/2026 for undergraduate students to enhance vocabulary, language skills, and literary knowledge. The competition saw enthusiastic participation from 25 students, who solved a 25-question crossword within one hour. The event promoted healthy competition and learning in an engaging manner. Bhuvan B (II Sem BCA) won first prize, followed by Varun G (IV Sem BCom BDA) and Tahiya Shoukath (VI Sem BCA).

RHETORICA – II | Muses Club


The Speech Competition, held on 21/04/2026, provided students with a platform to showcase their public speaking and communication skills. Participants spoke confidently on various topics, and the judges appreciated their creativity and presentation.

PIXEL TO PROSE | Muses Club


The Department of English, through the Muses Club, organized a creative story-writing competition titled “Pixel to Prose” on 24/04/2026. Coordinated by Ms. Annu Sara Jose and student coordinator Kishan G, the event encouraged students to transform visual prompts into imaginative stories. The competition celebrated creativity, storytelling, and the connection between modern digital expression and timeless prose writing.

Achievers’ Day 2026


The Department of Languages of St Francis College organized Achievers’ Day on 12/05/2026 with great enthusiasm. The event featured the release of the English and Kannada newsletters and a Kannada poetry book showcasing students’ literary works. Students were also honoured with prizes for their achievements in various literary activities and competitions.
