Complaint Procedure

Anti-Ragging Grievance & Complaint Mechanism — St. Francis College

Step 1: Ragging Episode The process is triggered when a student experiences or witnesses a ragging incident on campus.

Step 2: Approaching the Anti-Ragging Cell The affected student approaches the coordinators or members of the Anti-Ragging Cell either in person or by contact information provided and formally reports the incident.

Step 3: Acknowledgement of Complaint The Cell acknowledges the complaint, records all relevant details, and initiates a preliminary review of the reported incident. Simultaneously, the matter is brought to the notice of the Principal, who is kept informed and in the loop at every subsequent stage of the process.

Step 4: Investigation Initiated The Anti-Ragging Cell conducts a structured investigation comprising three parallel steps:

  • The complainant's statement is recorded in detail.
  • Accounts of any available witnesses are gathered.
  • The accused is called upon to present their response.

Throughout this stage, strict confidentiality is maintained to protect the complainant from any further distress or retaliation.

Step 5: Joint Review Upon conclusion of the investigation, the findings are reviewed jointly by the Anti-Ragging Cell and the Principal. This collaborative review ensures that the decision-making process is fair, transparent, and accountable.

Step 6: Resolution Based on the findings of the joint review, an appropriate resolution is determined. This may take one of three forms:

  • Counselling for the victim and/or the accused.
  • Disciplinary action against the accused as per institutional norms.
  • Escalation to the university authorities or law enforcement agencies, if the severity of the case warrants it.

Step 7: Case Closed The outcome is formally communicated to the concerned parties and the case is closed. Strict confidentiality is maintained throughout and the resolution is documented for institutional records.
