A Guest lecture on “Paathykram mein Gadhya Vidhaon ki Sanrachna aur Swaroop par Charcha

The Department of Hindi successfully organized a guest lecture on the topic “Paathykram mein Gadhya Vidhaon ki Sanrachna aur Swaroop par Charcha” for all Hindi students at the 4th Floor Seminar Hall. The primary objective of the lecture was to enhance students’ understanding of prose forms prescribed in the syllabus and to highlight their academic and literary relevance.The distinguished resource person for the session was Dr. M. Geethashree, Director, BMS College for Women, an eminent scholar widely recognized for her academic excellence, leadership, and significant contributions to Hindi education. The programme began with a warm welcome address by Bhavana R, a 2nd year B.Com BDA student, who introduced the purpose of the lecture and set a positive tone. This was followed by the introduction of the guest by Tamanna M, a 1st year BA student, who highlighted Dr. Geethashree’s academic journey, achievements, and literary contributions.In her insightful lecture, Dr. Geethashree explained gadhya as a literary form that emphasizes clarity, structure, and freedom of expression. She compared prose with poetry to show how prose allows an unrestricted flow of ideas. She elaborated on various prose genres such as Nibandh, Kahani, Sansmaran, Rekhachitra, Jeevani, and Yatra-Vrittaant, discussing their structure, style, tone, and purpose. She also emphasized how the prescribed syllabus helps develop students’ analytical skills and literary appreciation.The session became highly engaging through illustrative examples from renowned Hindi works, including Premchand’s Bade Bhai Sahab and Kafan, Mahadevi Varma’s Gillu and Neelkanth, Harishankar Parsai’s satirical essays, and selected travel narratives.The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Prachi Tripathi, Event Coordinator, who expressed gratitude to the guest, faculty members, and students. The Department of Hindi sincerely appreciates Dr. M. Geethashree for delivering such an enriching and inspiring lecture.
