Airport Visit to Mopa International Airport, Goa

An industrial visit to Manohar International Airport (Mopa), Goa was organized to provide students with practical exposure to airport operations and aviation management. The visit aimed to help students understand the functioning of a modern greenfield international airport and its role in regional and national connectivity.

During the visit, airport officials gave an overview of the airport’s infrastructure, design, and operational framework. Students were introduced to key functional areas such as terminal management, airside and landside operations, security systems, baggage handling systems, and passenger facilitation services. The use of advanced technology, automation, and digital systems to ensure safety, efficiency, and smooth passenger flow was clearly explained.

Special emphasis was placed on aviation safety, regulatory compliance, and emergency response procedures. Students gained insights into coordination among various stakeholders, including airlines, ground handling agencies, security agencies, and airport authorities. The officials also highlighted sustainability initiatives adopted at the airport, such as energy-efficient systems, water conservation, and eco-friendly practices.

The visit further covered aspects of customer service, airport marketing, and revenue generation through commercial activities like retail, food and beverage outlets, and cargo operations. Students interacted with professionals, which helped them understand career opportunities in the aviation sector.

Overall, the industrial visit to Mopa International Airport was an enriching learning experience. It enhanced students’ understanding of airport management, aviation operations, and the practical application of theoretical concepts in a real-world aviation environment.
