An industrial visit to Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC), Mysuru was organized to provide students with practical exposure to the silk manufacturing industry and to understand the functioning of a government-owned enterprise. KSIC, popularly known for its brand “Mysore Silk”, is one of the most prestigious silk producers in India.

During the visit, students were given a detailed orientation about the history of KSIC, its objectives, and its contribution to the promotion of traditional Indian silk. The visit began with an explanation of the silk production process, starting from raw silk procurement to weaving, dyeing, printing, and finishing. Students closely observed the use of modern machinery along with traditional techniques that ensure high-quality silk fabric.

The officials explained various aspects of quality control, design development, branding, and marketing strategies adopted by KSIC to maintain its reputation in both domestic and international markets. Special emphasis was given to ethical practices, sustainability, and employment generation, particularly for skilled artisans.
Students also gained insights into inventory management, pricing policies, and customer service practices followed by the organization. The visit helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world industrial operations.

Overall, the industrial visit to KSIC, Mysuru was an enriching learning experience. It enhanced students’ understanding of manufacturing management, marketing, and organizational operations while instilling appreciation for India’s rich textile heritage.
