Industrial Visit to MYMUL, Mysuru

An industrial visit to Mysuru Milk Union Limited (MYMUL) was organized to provide students with practical exposure to the operations of a large cooperative dairy enterprise. MYMUL, a constituent unit of the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), plays a vital role in milk procurement, processing, and distribution under the popular brand Nandini.

During the visit, students were briefed about the history, objectives, and cooperative structure of MYMUL. The visit commenced with an overview of the milk collection process from rural milk producers and dairy cooperatives. Students observed various stages of milk processing, including chilling, pasteurization, homogenization, packaging, and storage, which are carried out using advanced automated machinery to ensure quality and hygiene.
Officials explained the quality control measures followed at each stage, such as laboratory testing for fat content, purity, and safety standards. Students also learned about the production of value-added dairy products like curd, butter, ghee, paneer, and flavored milk. Emphasis was placed on food safety standards, cold chain management, and efficient logistics.

The visit provided insights into marketing, branding, and distribution strategies adopted by MYMUL to meet consumer demand across urban and rural markets. Students also understood the importance of cooperative principles, farmer empowerment, and sustainable development.

Overall, the industrial visit to MYMUL, Mysuru was an enriching experience that helped students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world industrial practices and appreciate the role of cooperatives in India’s dairy sector.
