Industrial Visit to IKEA Bangalore

 

On September 17, 2025, the Department of Interior Design & Decoration organized an industrial visit to IKEA Nagasandra, Bangalore, to bridge the gap between classroom theory and professional practice. The visit focused on IKEA’s globally recognized space planning principles, furniture ergonomics, and modular design philosophy. Students explored various curated room settings—including living, kitchen, and workspaces—to observe how circulation patterns, lighting, and material finishes are integrated to create functional yet aesthetic environments

Under the guidance of the IKEA team and faculty coordinators, students analyzed customer-centric layouts and sustainable material usage. The interactive tour allowed participants to examine spatial proportions and modular furniture detailing firsthand. This experiential learning session concluded with a reflection discussion, successfully enhancing the students' understanding of functional zoning and showroom design strategies essential for their future careers in interior design.
