Hands-on Training on Client Handling Skills in Psychology Organized By Department B.Sc (PJC)

The Department of Psychology, in association with the Sathva Club, organised a guest lecture titled “Hands-on Training on Client Handling Skills in Psychology” on 10 August 2026 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Venue 603.The session was conducted for PJC students with the objective of providing practical exposure to essential client-handling skills such as active listening, empathy, rapport building, professional communication and ethical conduct.

The programme was compered by Ms. Meghana and Ms. Vedavathi, who coordinated the proceedings effectively. Ms. Zoya Fathima, President, Sathva Club, delivered the welcome address and warmly welcomed the resource person, faculty members and students. Ms. Sahana, Joint Secretary, introduced the guest and read out the profile of the resource person, Ms. Ayesha Mehka.

Ms. Ayesha delivered an insightful and engaging expert session, providing students with practical knowledge and experiential exposure to effective client interactions. Through her expertise, she highlighted the importance of professional communication, empathy, active listening, rapport building and appropriate client handling in psychological and helping-service settings. The session also encouraged students to develop confidence and interpersonal competence through practical learning.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Haleema, Vice President, who expressed gratitude to the resource person, organisers, faculty members and students for their valuable participation. Overall, the session successfully strengthened students’ professional awareness and practical understanding of client handling skills. The programme was aligned with the stated learning outcomes of developing effective communication, confidence and competence in simulated helping situations.
