“Design Execution and Project Management of College Fest Decorations” was conducted from 20th February to 24th February 2026 at St. Francis College as part of an academic integrated practical activity. The initiative aimed to provide students with real-time exposure to design execution and project management in a live campus environment.
Students from the Department of B.Sc. Interior Design & Decoration actively participated in the planning and execution of decoration works for the college fest. The activity was systematically structured, assigning roles based on academic levels. First-year students contributed as design support teams, assisting in concept development and material preparation. Second-year students handled the execution phase, including installation and on-site coordination. Final-year students took leadership roles in project management, supervising workflows, coordinating teams, and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
The decorations included stage backdrops, entrance elements, thematic installations, and spatial enhancements across key areas of the campus. Students applied their knowledge of space planning, materials, color schemes, and design principles while working within practical constraints such as time and resources.
Faculty mentors guided the students throughout the process, ensuring quality and safety standards were maintained. The event also helped students understand real-world challenges such as coordination issues, last-minute changes, and execution delays, thereby enhancing their problem-solving skills.
Overall, the activity was a successful experiential learning exercise that bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. The event concluded with appreciation for the students’ efforts and teamwork, contributing significantly to the success of the college fest.
