Beyond Memory Loss: Understanding the Degenerative Mind Organized By B.Sc-PJC

 

                                                                                                                           

The Department of Psychology, in collaboration with the Sathva Club, organized an awareness session and workshop titled "Beyond Memory Loss: Understanding the Degenerative Mind" on 23 July 2026 from 10:50 AM to 12:30 PM in Room No. 606 for PJC students. The programme was conducted to enhance students' understanding of dementia and other neurodegenerative disorders while fostering empathy towards individuals affected by cognitive decline. The event was facilitated by DIA Ambassadors, who served as the resource persons for the session.

The programme commenced with a formal welcome, introducing the objectives of the awareness session and emphasizing the growing importance of psychological knowledge in understanding age-related neurological disorders. The resource persons provided a comprehensive overview of dementia, discussing its causes, stages, common signs and symptoms, risk factors, and the psychological, emotional, and social challenges experienced by individuals living with the condition and their caregivers.
