Awareness Session on Empowering Women Through Safety and Self-Defense Organized By WGRC Cell

                                                                     

The Women Grievances Redressal Cell organized an awareness session titled “Empowering Women Through Safety and Self-Defense” on 10 August 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the IV Floor Seminar Hall. The session was conducted for UG women students with the aim of creating awareness about women’s safety, rights, legal protections, gender equality, and available support systems.

Ms. Manjula D. M., Traffic Inspector, Adugodi Traffic Police Station, served as the resource person. She provided valuable insights into the importance of personal safety, situational awareness, confidence, and preparedness. She highlighted practical measures that women can adopt to protect themselves and respond appropriately during unsafe or challenging situations.

The session also focused on women’s rights and the legal provisions available to safeguard women against harassment, violence, and other forms of discrimination. Students were encouraged to be aware of their surroundings, communicate confidently, seek timely assistance,and make appropriate use of available support mechanisms.

The interaction with the resource person enabled students to clarify their concerns and gain practical knowledge related to safety and security. The session emphasized that women’s empowerment involves not only awareness of rights but also confidence, self-reliance, assertiveness, and the ability to make informed decisions.

Overall, the session was informative and engaging, providing students with essential knowledge about personal safety, self-defense, legal rights, and support systems. It successfully encouraged greater confidence, awareness, and preparedness among the participants while reinforcing the importance of creating a safe and respectful environment for women.
