After graduating in Mathematics from Mahatma Gandhi University Kerala, Tessy did her postgraduate studies in Mathematics at MES College, Bangalore. She did her Master of Philosophy in Mathematics from Alagappa University, followed by a postgraduate diploma in Statistical Analysis and a doctoral degree in Applied Mathematics from Christ University, Bangalore.

She is also a recipient of National Merit Scholarship award. From 1995 to 1997, Tessy taught in the Department of Mathematics at Maharani’s College, Bangalore. She joined the Mount Carmel College, Bangalore, faculty in 1997 and worked for 18 years there in different roles and responsibilities as an associate professor, ooordinator of Postgraduate programme and Head of the Department. She has also been in the administrative roles of IQAC, ICC, NAAC etc. as the team member as well as in leading roles. During 2019-2020, she was associated with Christ University, Bangalore and in August 2020, she joined the department of Mathematics at St. Francis College, Bangalore.

Tessy has broad research interests; she has presented many papers at International and National Conferences. Her doctoral thesis is on “Analytical and Numerical Solutions of Nonlinear Parabolic Partial Differential Equations”. She worked on a variety of problems including mathematical biology, the dynamics of the human brain, and predictive analysis of stock market by introducing new indicators, optimization techniques etc. Her work mainly focuses on nonlinear dynamics applied to Physics, Engineering, Financial Mathematics and Biology. In each case, the research involved close collaborations with experimentalists.

She has completed two Major Research Projects, one being sponsored by UGC. She has been to Edinburg University, Scotland as a sponsored participant from India for an International workshop on Mathematical Neuroscience. She also likes branching out into new areas, often with students taking the lead. In the past few years, this has led her into such topics as the mathematical and computational modeling related to Neuroscience mainly neurodegenerative diseases and implementation of such models using various numerical techniques. She is an enthusiastic teacher and scientist who is passionate about providing meaningful research experiences to her students and advancing our understanding in various fields.
